TESFA COMMUNITY SCHOOL
One of the keys to success in a child’s life in Ethiopia is education.
We are building a school in Hawassa to help make sure as many children as possible have access to quality education!
Why the name Tesfa?
Tesfa means hope in Amharic and that is our goal. We want to instill hope in every child for their future and dreams.
The logo represents a seedling growing out of a book. We desire to help children grow in knowledge so that they might better understand the world, their giftings and how to make a difference right where they live.
Why education?
Education is a fundamental right of every child, and it plays a crucial role in shaping their future.
Unfortunately, in Ethiopia, a significant number of children are deprived of this basic right due to poverty, limited resources, and other socio-economic challenges.
Hawassa Hope aims to help be part of the solution!
We are in the final stages of building Tesfa Community School in Tulla in the Sidama region of Ethiopia.
This will be the very first school in this community and will offer great accessibility to education for so many children!
Our goals
- To provide financial assistance to underprivileged children in Ethiopia to enable them to access quality education.
- To holistically care for students and their families.
- To ensure that the children have access to basic literacy, numeracy, and life skills education that will enable them to build a better future for themselves and their communities.
- To promote gender equality by ensuring that girls have equal access to education and are encouraged to pursue their dreams.
- To enhance community participation in education by involving parents and local leaders in promoting education.
We are thrilled to announce that our very first preschool class started this September! They are already learning and thriving!
Current Needs
- Preparing and supplying the Kindergarten classes for September 2024.
- Building Fund for the 1st-6th grade classes. As soon as it’s built they can also go to school!
- Education sponsors at $25 per month
